High-caffeine drinks are providing an energy jolt for Canadians young and old, but some products are delivering enough of the drug to potentially cause intoxication, Canada's top medical journal is charging.
"Caffeine-loaded energy drinks have now crossed the line from beverages to drugs delivered as tasty syrups," the Canadian Medical Association Journal says in an editorial to be published Tuesday that calls for prominent labels listing total caffeine content and an end to advertising targeting children.
